In 2006, The Nakon Foundation is embarked on the most aggressive fundraising campaign to date.  In addition to our already successful events, the Golf Outing and the Turkey Dash, we will be adding a grassroots campaign that is designed to spread the word of the foundation while raising funds from areas not yet tapped. 

Our Goal

  To raise $1 for every person who was diagnosed with breast cancer every year.  That's $1 for every One.

Our Plan

    If everyone gives just $1 for every person they know with breast cancer and gets at least one other person to do the same, we will have our goal.  How can we be so sure?  Easy... because everyone knows someone with breast cancer or someone who has lost their battle with this disease.

Where Will the Money Go? 

    To support our mission which is, in part, “to extend financial assistance to families who are burdened with the staggering costs of breast cancer treatment.”

    Since our inception in 2003, we have raised more than $250,000.  After our initial organizational year, we gave away 100% of our income and we have helped 45 families.  But the need far exceeds our current ability to help.

    The largest uncovered cost of breast cancer treatment is the loss of an income to a family.  Think about it!  While a mom is sick, one half of the family income vanishes.  While a single mom is going through chemo, she can’t go to work.  Who pays the mortgage, the heating bill, the groceries?  The assistance we provide gets them through and helps them to get back on their feet.  The mere diagnosis of breast cancer brings with it enough heartache and trouble without having to worry about losing your home or having your heat turned off.  That’s where the Karen P. Nakon Breast Cancer Foundation comes in.

How Can You Help?

1. Give what you can and get everyone in your family, your workplace, and your church … any organization you belong to…to give. 

2. Invite us in to any group to which you belong so that we can introduce them to The Foundation, let them know how they can become involved and make sure they know how to apply for assistance, if necessary.

3. Help us to spread this message one person at a time and between Mother’s Day and Thanksgiving each year.  Let us know what you are doing so we can post it on our website to give others ideas about how they can help.
